Postpartum Doula information (click here for lactation consultation information)
I am happy to offer lactation and postpartum doula support, including phone consultations and home visits. Contact me if you are in need of lactation and/or postpartum support for a free 10 minute consultation and we can discuss different options together.
At this time, I am offering postpartum doula services in 5-hour blocks of time. Please contact me with any questions or for doula/lactation packages. Note: Doula work only includes basic lactation care. If more extensive help is needed, a separate lactation consultation may be necessary and charged separately.
What does a postpartum doula do?
Provide care and mentor the mother/parent during the first few weeks/months after the baby is born, supporting emotional and physical recovery from birth in a non-judgmental way
Be a companion to the family during the transition into parenthood and nurture family bonding, including providing opportunities for adequate rest and relaxation
Provide childcare to siblings and/or care for your baby so you can have individual time with your other children
Promote the education of evidence-based information, especially including newborn care (bathing, calming, and sleeping techniques, diapering and babywearing options, etc.)
Provide referrals for services and providers that may assist you in your transition into parenthood
Listen to birth stories and help parents process their experiences
Run errands and perform household organizational tasks including light chores
Help organize a daily schedule with providing tools for you to accomplish your goals, including assistance with attending doctors' appointments or other errands with baby
Assist with nutritious food options, including light meal preparation
Provide lactation support
Services not included are driving mom/parent/baby, staying at home alone with the baby, disciplining siblings, and providing medical care/clinical tasks (i.e. temperature, blood pressure, etc.).
